I have talked to people who've gotten used to it, and found ways to work around it's wretchedness, and now think it's OK, like yourself. Most people never use keyboard shortcuts, and don't know how to find them. But the workaround people are far outnumbered by the people that HATE it with a flaming passion. It's not so wretched if you're running it on a touchscreen or tablet, but on a regular PC, it's a disaster.

I've also had people who, on realizing there isn't really anything they can do, took the new computer back and just kept using their old one. I've had people who've had me uninstall Windows 8 or 8.1, bought a fresh copy of Win 7, and had me install that on their new computer.

I often steer frustrated new owners to this free product:

classicshell.net

Which, in my opinion, MS should include as an option.
