After having our little discussion about operating systems here yesterday, I have decided to buy a new computer. (something I've put off)

I do have a question for the experts on this board.

We are moving to an area that only offers DSL service, and the particular piece of property where we'll live is the furthest from the hub. The people who live there now say they are getting even faster service than the little town nearer to the hub, (what ever that is?) so it sounds like it's going to work out OK.

In this instance, would one computer processor provide faster delivery over another?

We only use the computer for surfing/research, banking and storage. We are not gamers.
