Interesting thought. I remember the high school rule--girl gets pregnant has to leave school, boy continues right along. Some lectures from the school principle but that was it. And because of that and other social sanctions the out of wedlock birth rate for teens was much lower then. A neighboring school system to mines didn't even allow pregnant married teachers to continue teaching--they had to resign--although that policy may have had a health and safety motive.
