The news release states: "Two vibroseis crews will allow for rapid acquisition of data and will accelerate the detailing of the structural leads developed by our evaluation teams," said the Company Chairman and CEO, Dr.George Faris.

There may be an urgency to complete the tests on these sites rather than wait for results on the other sites. Everything seems to be speeding up. As Taxikid said "good news the ball is rolling?"

Results from these tests may determine the direction the negotiations take, or may determine where they drill in 2nd quarter.

Notice that one of the companies is from Kazakstan which will make the Kazakstan officials happy. Don't you think this added competition will cause WaveTech to work a little harder to complete their evaluation. Dr. Faris wants results--the sooner the better.
(and so do we)

This appears to be good news. What do the rest of you think.

Terry, The attached post should explain why. To my knowledge the Wavetech team has been back for a few days now. Though, I'm not sure whether they're completely done in KAZ yet or not. But, I think they are at least with the first part. Anyway, I'm smelling "HAM," don't you? Oh, sorry, it's coming from our kitchen. sycamore

Talked to Gary this afternoon. Basically said there are 2 good things:

1. This is needed to be done to keep license. Need to fulfill license agreement or they lose license.

2. The company is all but ready to release new figures for reserves. They want to make sure when they do release them they have there own data to back it up. When the company says they have x amount of oil in pot rec res the next question will be prove it. Using old soviet data is OK but to have there own data to back it up will go a long way with credibility

My opinion(Not from Gary) To me it would make sense to have this additional data if the figures they are going to report are VERY large. Some have said it will surprise even those in the oil industry. This other data would be very helpful. It would also indicate we will have new figures sometime in Jan if not before.

First off here is the URL for Wavetech:

wavetechgeo.com

Second; here is a portion of the PR release in Sept.

American International Petroleum Corp. (NASDAQ:NMS - news), today announced that it has contracted Wavetech Geophysical Inc. of Denver to provide technical support in the development of the exploration work program under its License No. 953 in the North Uysturt Basin, Kazakstan.

Wavetech will provide support for technical analysis in the areas of geophysics, geology, and petroleum engineering. The firm will provide highly skilled technical staff to complement the company's local Kazakstan personnel. Seismic data processing and interpretation will also be provided under this agreement.

My read of this is that Wavetech is contracted as the exploration arm. What they hired today was two crews to do the dirty work in the field, probably under the direction of Wavetech. Wavetech will then process the data and evaluate it, in conjunction with the Russian data.
