Crimea seems to be as reasonably Russia's as Hong Kong is reasonably China's and Wales is reasonably England's. Northern Ireland is less reasonably England's as there is not even a land bridge to Ireland as there is from Russia to Russia's Crimea. After 200 years, we can pretty much say that Crimea is more or less Russia's. It was highly instructive. On ant and cheese principles, it's not even a question that Russia keeps possession of Crimea if not Ukraine. They gave it up because of USSR collapse and Gorby's refusal to commit mass murder to hold the show together. Local yokel opportunists took their chance and grabbed loads of loot for themselves. Looting disaster areas is poor form and possession of loot should not be expected to continue once civilization is resurrected, even if the civilization is less than perfect. Hence Shanghai's international properties were returned to Made in China rules. Taiwan is not quite as certainly a rightful possession just as Korea, Japan and Philippines are not rightfully owned by Beijing's bosses. Mqurice
