right... if the U.S. just killed all welfare and food stamps programs the poor folks would just magically go out and find jobs... all the jobs are just waiting on them... but it's so much of a luxury to live off food stamps and of course CHEETOS! pitiful how you and lokness have an obsession with poor folks... especially the "gangs"

They exist because they are not educated and therefore not able to think past gangs. Get them started in a free pre school with meals and keep them going and they will by pass gangs. It has noting to do with dads at all. That is just right wing made up stuff. Not social science. My city is considered the 6th most dangerous city in the country. When I grew up there were gangs everywhere. It never crossed my mind to join one; and later when I went to our community college I saw many many previous gang members there and they had all quit it. We have to reach intellectual critical mass in kids before the gang stage starts.

They had been founded by veterans returning from WWII. By the time I moved in, they were third or fourth generation. The fathers all worked, and for the most part all the gang members had jobs. But, they shot members of other gangs that tried to sell drugs on their turf, and vice versa. It was more like a club that packed heat and fought with other clubs.
