There are studies out there that support the thesis that married couples give children a better chance of succeeding just because of the economic advantages. How "good' these studies are I don't know. I'm not trained to evaluate sociological methodology.

There are no studies, that I know of, that are applicable to what happens if welfare is cut off for future unweds/ unborn--it never have happened here as far as I know. I'm willing to have it enacted as a policy because I think it will be better then what we have.
