This is simply not true. Central banks around the world run a tremendous range in terms of autonomy/independence, from the Bundesbank (extremely autonomous) to cases (until recently France) where the monetary authority was entirely subservient to the fiscal authority. Some are more accountable to democratic government than is necessarily healthy - because politicians can buy votes with inflation.

Call me prejudiced, but when an article quotes from a publication that has published Holocaust denial pieces more than once, I become skeptical. Further, if you look at the 'conservative compounding' numbers for their 'secret wealth' they own world GNP for several years . Astronomical wealth, or stupid math, you make the choice.

That, again, varies from country, but isn't particularly true of yours -but the Fed does have an artful way of reporting things to make information difficult to glean.
