The conservative economic policies that you primarily favor are hurting the lower classes in the southern states significantly.

What are you talking about.. I favor affordable costs of living relative to incomes that gives the middle class a chance at owning a home with affordable payments and at building equity like it did during the post WW2 boom till the end of the Clinton boom.. You seem to get all pumped up at gentrified hoods in large blue cities that are now out of reach to most Americans. I know it hurts but every large city in the south and TX is now blue or purple and full of endless promise and opportunities for average Americans unlike all the very high cost markets of the NE and west coast where you need one percenter type incomes or options in Facebook stock to make it.

And yet the facts don't support your thesis that every large city in the South "is full of endless promise". I am thinking New Orleans, Memphis, Little Rock, Birmingham, Norfolk, Baton Rouge, Winston Salem, Jackson, Charleston, Chattanooga, Knoxville, San Antonio, El Paso, Savannah, Augusta and Jacksonville. Those cities are doing mediocre at best..........haven't done well for years. And with the exception of TX and FL, every southern state scores at the bottom of the barrel in terms of infant mortality, education, income per capita, lifespan etc.

You see a little glitter........Dallas, Houston, Austin, Atlanta, Nashville, Miami, Tampa and Raleigh Durham.......and you think everything glitters in the South. And its just not true. The only states that are seeing big population increases are FL and TX. Some day we will have talk about why I would not trade the growth in OR or WA or ID or even CA for all the growth that TX and FL are experiencing.

FYI folks are fleeing the north and midwest in record numbers..

This has been true since WW II. I am not impressed..........with all the population growth, southern states still end up at the bottom of the barrel. Their stats lagged those of the North back in 1950 and they lag now. I am afraid you are the Joel Kotkin of SI.........your head is easily turned by population growth. In the end growth is meaningless if lifestyle doesn't improve.

Very high cost of living as well as the weather... The more I read these political boards seems both liberals and conservatives are screwing the middle class big time and I've grown to despise extremist views on both sides at this point as it is destroying the country ... This will never end till both sides get their heads out of their ass.

The more I read these boards the more I realize how screwed conservatives and so called independents are. .
