Suma,

Open My Computer, right click on your hard disk drive (C:), and select "Properties". Then in the Disk Properties window, click on the "Tools" tab. The middle option will be for Defragmentation. Click on "Defragment now...".

In the Disk Defragmenter window, select the C: drive and click the Defragment Disk button.

WARING: This can take hours to run.

P.S. I usually run Disk Cleanup first (on the General tab of the Disk Properties window).

B.K.

Marylou, I see that BK Myers has already given you specific instructions.

If you're on Win 7 or later, then Windows takes care of this automatically. If you're still on XP, then it may be useful.
