You plug one into a power outlet with the ethernet cable connecting to your home router. Then you just plug the other adapters in a power outlet wherever you want to connect to a computer in your house, then connect that cable to the computer.

It literally took less than a minute to plug them in and have an internet connection. And it is way faster than wireless...
