Atmel seldom preannounces, and they are conspiculously non-commital about the future to the point of being dead pan. However, they did mention several weeks ago during their conference call that they would have a great 4Q. Nobody seems to have paid them any mind. I thought it was quite a bullish statement.

Given this Asian mess, no one seems to have any handle on today let alone tomorrow. If only the Asian authorities and the Asian companies would come clean as to their true financial problems, they might get some money commitment. But with their deception of late (either intended or unintended, and perhaps deception is not the right word), no one feels like investing in their economy or markets.
