"Trading may be an art to you, but I did not intend to imply that. I trade from a
model I developed. The model had produced an "oversold" buy signal. I was
refering to the strong emotional appeal of leaving my short in place, much less
going long."

Controlling emotions is part of the art.I have seen two traders use the same system and one make money and the other go broke.
My own brother went broke four times using the same system I did back in 1982.Also some systems don't just give "signals" but also probabitilies of a trade working. It takes a lot of dicipline to sit there and watch a trade that "could" work and not take it only to see it work anyway.

P.S. all my trades scare the hell out of me.Especially when my broker messes up.I had a bid for NVLS this morning at 30 1/8 and as usual it went to 30 1/4.After it went up I canceled it.Later when it went to 29 my broker says "pardon us but you did buy it after all"

Yeah right.
