I gather you think Putin is invading Ukraine for Jesus.

"Putin is at least a born-again thug, a nationalist, like that one pope said, how oppportune for us and our empire, was this myth about Jesus?"

I think he used the word "fable" but myth will work! :-)

Putin is extremely popular with Christians for obvious reasons. But what is really sad is how thinking Americans talk about standing firm and tall--while they are dividing America with their ugly rhetoric against their leader and against more than half the population. What message does this send to Putin and the world? A house divided against itself cannot stand. It is the end of all Empires and it will be the ruin of the United States if mouthpieces (such as we see here doing nothing to build but everything to destroy) do not change their ways? It is really sad to see. And that goes when the other side is in power, too. When there is a world crisis people need to let go of their childish behaviors and stand tall and firm with their leadership.
