How Common Core Killed the Cop Killer Counselor

.................................................................................................
Michelle Obama's Mirror ^ | 3-5-2014 | MOTUS

Well that was embarrassing: Obama's controversial selection to head DOJ’s civil rights division, Debo Adegbile, was rejected by the Senate in a stunning defeat.

We’re not used to rejection, how did this happen? Why did Dirty Harry let the Debo nomination go to the vote if we didn’t have enough Senators to carry it? As it turns out, it looks like a simple math error: somebody just counted wrong. Harry was assured he had the requisite 51 votes on the floor, with Joey B standing by,just in case.

I suppose this sort of thing was bound to happen, what with Common Core math and all. Because old fashioned math was too hard to teach (none of the new teachers could ever get their heads wrapped around math themselves), we invented “fuzzy math” which became the basis for Common Core math. It’s aimed at making all things mathematical - like addition, subtraction, multiplication and division - easier to understand. Here’s an example of how that works:

Bonding With Numbers

Got that? No? That’s OK, let’s try another:

Here’s the text:

Use the number bond to fill in the math story. Make a simple math drawing. Cross out from 10 ones or some ones to show what happens in the stories.

There were __ ants in the ant hill. __ of them are sleeping and __ of them are eating. 9 of the sleeping ants woke up. How many ants are not sleeping?

In “old math” it was the grasshopper that slept; the ants were always working.

Now we have “math stories” with “number bonds”? For first graders? And this is supposed to make kids find math easier to do? With “old math” kids simply hated it; with the new Common Core math they are terrorized by it:

Kaitlyn, trying to do her math homework

So, yesterday’s fiasco is what happens when you let your 20-something staffers educated only in fuzzy math count the votes. They probably don’t have a very good grasp of history either. Maybe I should remind them what happens when the normally industrious ants choose to nap like the grasshoppers:

By the way, I note that the producers, writers and editors at NPR must have been educated in Common Core geography as well as math. As reported this morning:

Just now on NPR’s Morning Editiona story on yesterday’s failed vote on Debo Adegbile began “a handful of southern Democrats joined Republicans yesterday to defeat president Obama’s choice to head the Justice Department’s civil rights division.”

For what it’s worth the Democrats who voted no:

Chris Coons (Del.)
Bob Casey (Pa.)

Mark Pryor (Ark.)

Heidi Heitkamp (N.D.)

Joe Manchin (W.V.)

Joe Donnelly (Ind.)
John Walsh (Mont.)

And of course Harry Reid (Nev.)…

Not exactly Sons of the Confederacy.

So in case you didn’t before, now you know just exactly how important education is for our future. So when Obama asks to increase spending by a trillion dollars to re-educated America’s treasure in Common Core principles, how can you say no? After all, do you know how many number bonds there are in a trillion dollars? I didn’t think so.

“I have 18 and need about a trillion more!”

Allow my to leave you with this modern day version of the old “Ant and Grasshopper” story. In the original, as you recall the moral was “Be responsible for yourself.”

Butt that was Before Obama. Here’s the modern, updated, version: (author unknown)

The ant works hard In the withering heat and the rain all summer long,
building his house and laying up supplies for the winter.

The grasshopper thinks the ant Is a fool and laughs and dances
and plays the summer away.

Come winter, the shivering grasshopper calls a press conference
and demands to know why the ant should be

allowed to be warm and well fed while he is cold and starving.

CBS, NBC, PBS, CNN, and ABC show up to provide pictures of the
shivering grasshopper next to a video of the ant

In his comfortable home with a table filled with food.

America is stunned by the sharp contrast.

How can this be, that in a country of such wealth,
this poor grasshopper is allowed to suffer so?

Kermit the Frog appears on Oprah with the grasshopper
and everybody cries when they sing, ‘It’s Not Easy Being Green…’

ACORN stages a demonstration in front of the ant’s house where
the news stations film the SEIU group singing, We shall overcome.

Then Rev. Jeremiah Wright has the group kneel down to pray
for the grasshopper’s sake, while he damns the ants.

President Obama condems the ant and blames President Bush 43,
President Bush 41, President Reagan, Christopher Columbus,

and the Pope for the grasshopper’s plight.

Nancy Pelosi & Harry Reid exclaim in an interview with Larry King
that the ant has gotten rich off the back of the Grasshopper, and

both call for an immediate tax hike on the ant to make him pay his fair share.

Finally, the EEOC drafts The Economic Equity & Anti-Grasshopper Act
Retroactive to the beginning of the summer.

The ant is fined for failing to hire a proportionate number of
green bugs and, having nothing left to pay his retroactive taxes,

his home is confiscated by the Government Green Czar and given to the grasshopper.

The story ends as we see the grasshopper and his free-loading friends
finishing up the last bits of the ant’s food while the government house

he is in, which, as you recall, just happens to be the ant’s old house,

crumbles around them because the grasshopper doesn’t maintain it.

The ant has disappeared in the snow, never to be seen again.

The grasshopper is found dead in a drug related incident, and the house,
now abandoned, is taken over by a gang of spiders who terrorize the

ramshackle, once prosperous and peaceful, neighborhood.

The entire Nation collapses bringing the rest of the free world with it.

NEW MORAL OF THE STORY:

“All of our ants are belong to us.”

UPDATE: Debo’s defeat due to racism, not Common Core, per Harry Reid. Duly noted.

I’d hate to see a leftist teach walking and/or gum chewing. They simply can’t be all there mentally to complicate such simplicity.

This explains the math and the how he was rejected. But I want to know the why? Why did those Democrats vote against him such that they would not be called racists?

ABC Frets Over Pro-American Cadillac Ad: 'Arrogant' and 'Xenophobic?'
NewsBusters ^ | 6 Mar 2014 | Scott Whitlock

The journalists at Good Morning America on Thursday were sufficiently provoked by a pro-American Cadillac commercial that they devoted a whole segment to wondering if the spot was "arrogant" and "xenophobic." GMA's reporters, who couldn't find any time to cover former IRS head Lois Lerner pleading the Fifth on Capitol Hill, devoted almost three minutes to the "backlash" against the car commercial.

The ad features a man strolling around his large house, praising the free enterprise system and the work ethic of Americans: "Other countries, they work. They stroll home. They stop by the café. They take August off. Off!" Co-host George Stephanopoulos worried, "Is it selling a confident take on America with a sense of humor or showing off an arrogant caricature that is just plain obnoxious?"

Journalist Nick Watt asserted that the spot has been "lambasted by plenty others online as arrogant, xenophobic, ugly Americanism."

In fairness, Watt did note that some are "praising" the commercial. He featured a clip of Fox New contributor Jonathan Hoenig who touted, "Here's an advertisement that actually celebrates Americanism.

But, the ABC hosts clearly sided with the aggrieved left. Robin Roberts appeared disgusted, complaining, "But, oh my goodness. And what's wrong with taking more than two weeks off?"

Guest co-host Amy Robach agreed: "It's bragging rights in this country to say you didn't take your vacation days. Sad."

To watch the entire commercial, go here.

Common Core sex education materials deemed pornographic even in America’s prisons

................................................................................
Coach is Right ^ | 3/10/14 | Suzanne Eovaldi

Illustrations about “Do It Yourself Masturbation” appear in a book being circulated to America’s 8-10 year old public school children. But this book’s depictions are so like pornography that WA prison officials have found it unacceptable reading for their ADULT inmates!

The book, “It’s Perfectly Normal” is being endorsed by Common Core standards, Planned Parenthood, and by association, Florida’s 43rd governor Jeb Bush whose Excellence in Education, non-profit group is fully on board with forcing Common Core values onto our government school system!

“On page 15 (are) pictures of oral and anal sexual intercourse” along with the more familiar male-female who’s on top positions, says the video announcer who describes what is in this sex book for fourth graders…”(1) “It’s Perfectly Normal” t.is so graphic that FACEBOOK (2) refused attempts to re-circulate its post. This expose’ vid describes, pg. 48, young children masturbating together. According to this video, this book’s author is on the Planned Parenthood board of advocates. “Some drawings depict children and adults masturbating and having intercourse with do-it-yourself instructions included,” says web reviewer Frances Stotter. (3) “U.S. schools are teaching eight year olds to masturbate, and parents are outraged.” Stotter goes on to point out that the ACA (Obamacare) “has budgeted $75 million for sexuality education, and U.S. Common Core REQUIRES sex ed for all students in K-12.” She stresses that much of this funding is tied into federal grants being administered by the U.S. Department of Education which, in turn, requires that schools use Common Core standards to get these federal dollars!

The video reviewer says that free copies of this sex book for fourth graders were handed out during Sex Party activities in Waco, TX. But a commenter later praises TX Governor Rick Perry for rejecting Common Core. “Creepy stuff is being taught eight year olds,” says the announcer! (4)

Now, former Florida Governor Jeb Bush and his non profit Excellence in Education become associated with this outrage because he is fully on board with Common Core and all it symbolizes. “Our children’s futures depend on how well we prepare them for success after high school,” states Bush’s innocuous sounding tool kit web page. (5) Bush and his experts are refusing to denounce Common Core even as opponents lobby the Florida legislature to pull out as the March 4 session convenes this week. His statements and tool kit pages defend Common Core Standards and even have links attempting to defuse opposition. He is Founder and Chairman of the Board of Foundation for Excellence in Education which is partnering with Bill Gates’ foundational work. Worthy of note here is that Gates’ softwear and the Bush consortium are collecting donations from wealthy Americans who can take tax deductions for fostering reading materials they may not even realize could contain pornographic style illustrations intended for our very young children. One illustration consists of cartoon-like stylistics and shows a female with wired looking hair and her male partner in the sex ready position!

So “It’s Perfectly Normal,” the U. S. public school system, Planned Parenthood, and Common Core are now linked with Jeb Bush, Bill Gates, and other wealthy U.S. educational reformers. Do they know that the Catholic Church and other online Catholic groups have condemned such assaults on our children? This is according to the web video reviewers of “It’s Perfectly Normal.”

But, perhaps one interested individual best sums up these porno type depictions of masturbation by saying: “Hey, America. You wanted tolerance. You wanted to avoid the horrifying bigot label. Now you’re going to sit by and let perverts turn your kids into freak shows.”

After teaching for over thirty years in U.S. public schools and colleges, am I asking too much of our educators to explain why we’re teaching grade schoolers how to masturbate but not teaching them how to read, write, and solve mathematical equations by using methods that our business world can understand?

Chihuahua Mama Adopts and Saves the Life of Tiny Kitten
..........................................................

Staff and volunteers at Helen Woodward Animal Center (HWAC) in Rancho Santa Fe, Calif. saw first hand just how strong a mother’s love can be – even when the baby is from another species!

Beignet, a young long-haired Chihuahua, and Gumbo, a tiny grey kitten, were found abandoned in a backyard in Barstow, Calif. Neighbors found Beignet, whose own puppies were nowhere to be found, nursing the small grey kitten and surely keeping him alive as nighttime temps dropped to the 20s.

The pair was transported to the HWAC and thrived under their care. Marcie Grube of HWAC says Gumbo is quiet and serene and likes to watch everything going on around him, while his mama, Beignet, is friendly and loves people and other animals. As excited as Beignet gets when people approach, she stays seated so her feline “son” can still be next to her. “Gumbo really relies on Beignet for comfort and stability,” Grube says. “He is usually found snuggled next to her or leaning on her.“

After they were sure the pair was healthy and comfortable, the staff went about finding the two a home – together. When news spread of the unlikely mother-son combo, donations and would-be adopters poured in from all over the country and the world.

In fact, says the HWAC, they received so many applications to adopt the two that the shelter began asking people to send in a 300-word essay about why they have the perfect home for the adorable pair.

Beignet and Gumbo’s forever home will be chosen this week and the lucky family will take their new family members home on March 12.

Grube says when the pair first arrived, even during the hectic intake process, both Beignet and Gumbo were perfect little angels. “They both sat like little kids, with perfect posture, right next to each other, almost saying, "Hi! We’re waiting our turn!".

Well, Beignet and Gumbo, it’s your turn now! Enjoy your forever home!

Animals form amazing bonds among their own species and even across the species border. Our Jada (Husky/Lab mix) was right there helping me deliver the second of two breech kittens from a cat who had belonged to a neighbor. Jada loved and nurtured all of the kittens in that litter, but was particularly fond of Leo--the runt and the second of the two breech kittens. Jada cleaned the kitten off, made sure he was breathing and even attempted to feed him. Even though Leo is now almost 4 yrs. old, Jada and he still have an unbreakable bond.

Ellyn Gilbride I'd like to think so. SOME of us will. :-) I had a little long haired dachshund mix years ago - she became the "mother" to three rescued 3-wk-old kittens - she wouldn't leave their sides and tried to nurse them. I don't think she'd ever had puppies - it was her maternal love and instinct. I much prefer animals to most people. :-)

GOP "ChamberMaids" Attempt to Rebrand Common Core (Georgia)
    Breitbart News ^ | March 11, 2014 | Warner Todd Huston

Georgia's Republican Governor, Nathan Deal, seems poised to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat by strong-arming the legislature away from pushing a bill to withdraw completely from imposing Common Core education standards on the state's schools and toward implementing most of the Common Core policies this year.

State Senator William Ligon (R-Brunswick) was the voice against Common Core's being forced on Georgia schools. In 2013 he led a coalition of citizens to try to pass a law that put a halt to the policies. Opposition to Common Core became so stiff that Governor Deal was forced to issue a May 15 Executive Order to attempt to quell a GOP rebellion; the EO pledged that "no educational standards will be imposed on Georgia by the federal government."

Deal also pledged that no data will be collected on students "for the purpose of the development of commercial products or services." Gov. Deal did not, however, say that the state would avoid imposing Common Core on its own, only that it wouldn't allow the federal government to do so.

In response, Sen. Ligon criticized the Governor's order saying that it did not "ultimately move Georgia out of the Common Core Program." The response to the Governor's empty Executive Order gave those Georgians who stood in favor of local control of their schools hope that Common Core was still facing stiff opposition in the legislature. Even better, by June the State Republican Party had passed a resolution by a wide margin opposing Common Core.

Yet despite all that, by March of 2014 it seems that Governor Deal has been able to defeat those looking for local control of schools and ....
