Genocide isn't a very well-defined term.

People of a different time in the US definitely mistreated Native Americans. As did slaveowners mistreat African Americans. African Americans today mistreat other African Americans, and whites, and Native Americans. Native Americans still murder each other today. So, it is kind of pointless to engage in the blame game.

Few races or tribes have not at some point in their history had blood on their hands. Native Americans of various tribes routinely killed members of other tribes long before America was called America.

BC,
So we didn't use genocide on the Indians?
That's a real stretch on the definition of "genocide."

Most of the reduction in the Native American population was due to disease that was brought to the New World by the white man, but not part of any large-scale plan for biological warfare.

The rest of the killing was mainly due to territorial disputes. Unfortunately for Natives, the white man hopelessly outnumbered and outgunned them.

None of the crimes of the white man should be excused, but to call that "genocide" would be a stretch.
