Not everyone is selling the x2's at $49 a pop. I went out to 7 sites and found a variety of prices. The only one that came close was at CompUSA, with the windows x2 and newscatcher for $59. But the PC cards were still in the 199 range, and the mac modems were still in the hundreds as well.

CDW had external GVIL win/x2 for $114 and Internal for $109; Elektek had ext for $129 and internal for $119; PC Zone had external and newscatcher for $119; Microwarehouse had internal for $115; and Cyberian Outpost had the x2 external for $119 and internal for $109.

So, the blow out price on the windows x2 is not all over. I think some of the rock bottom prices are to bundle with the newscatcher to get those off the shelf. They can also be retailer special puchases, where the retailer bought en masse to get a deep discount. Only Newcom is selling the dirt cheap 56K for $56.

And the PC cards are still going -- no matter where I look -- for solid prices.

At the GVIL website, the windows x2's are going for the $139 for external and $119 for internal.

So in no way is the sale you saw a fire sale.

I really think GVIL is moving some product this quarter....
