It's difficult to say what is more astonishing: the double standards exhibited by the White House, or the apparent total lack of self-awareness of U.S. officials.

Actually, the standard has been consistent since the Neo-Cons hijacked U.S. foreign policy during the mid-1980s. They have had an extraordinary influence during both Republican and Democratic administrations at the State Department, Defense Department, World Bank, and numerous NGO's.

The latest Robert Kagan/Victoria Nuland outbreak just goes to show how widespread their influence really is, as it is occurring six years after Obama's election. Poor Bush never understood what hit him as he was just overwhelmed by the likes of Cheney, Rumsfeld, Perle, Wolfowitz, Bolton, Zoellick, et. al.

Obama should know better...or be getting a quick education. Nuland should be long gone!!
