Oracle is not forcing you to buy their server either. I would speculate that practically all of the NC sales to date have been for units manufactured by other companies (RCA, Acorn, etc., etc.). Oracle is using the "Network in a Box" as a kind of starter package. It will probably be (no, we're not there yet) the vehicle for Oracle to sell to small businesses and the educational market. If Oracle's NCA (Network Computing Architecture) takes off, there are going to be a whole lot of servers out there built to the NCA reference platform specification. Those servers are going to need a high-powered database to maintain all of the user configuration information, data, etc. that used to reside on a PC's hard drive. Can you think of a company that would have an interest in supplying such a database?? The hardware revenue from NCs (IMHO) will never amount to much of anything for Oracle. The license/support/service revenue for the OS and database is where the money is at. -Michael

Dear Syborg: Good point if ORCL is smart they will make the software a one fits all servers element and the client will be just as universal. It is the applications and data warehousing functionthat should provide thevalue added while the the query engine captures the market.

I appreciate whatever facts you have to provide, but you also have a bit a bias with your presentation of "facts." That's what I was commenting on. I have seen your posts for some time, and you have seen mine, both on this thread as well as the SYBS thread. A history of your posts indicates an undeniable bias for SYBS, which is relevant to anything you post here. "My investment cover SYBS, ORCL and IFMX. Everybody is at bargain basement prices." So. What would be more revealing is to disclose those relative positions as well as indicate how long you have held ORCL, but you needn't. A history of your posts leads me to make an educated guess. There's nothing wrong with being a SYBS diehard. But you shouldn't get upset about publication about it & throw insults my way. Its a waste of your time, my time & everybody else's who has to pour over a zillion of posts every time there is quarterly announcement. I wish you luck with all your investments.
