You are mixing apples and oranges here Wharf IMHO. The Democratic Senators who nixed Obama's appointment of the "defender" of the cop killer have to run on their record against "law and order" types. The facts of the case show the defendant gunned the cop down in cold blood (not part of any hot pursuit or self defense etc). And my point is/was that Obama can't expect to make these appointments in a vacuum devoid of the political air that surrounds such an appointment. He needs to know better in order to avoid just what did happen to his nominee. It's called counting the votes.
