On top of that, Bill G. doesn't even
have an answer for Java other than the truly pitiful "Windows CE".

Huh? Java and Windows CE could not be further from being related in any way. How did you even make that connection?

Unlike Netscape, their market isn't going to be challenged
by MSFT, so they don't have to wait for the Feds to decide on what
to do with the thieves from Redmond.

What is SUNW's market? Their workstation market? Already dead. Their server market? being heavily challenged, but doing very well. The Java market? SUNW will not make a dime from Java by itself - Java was made to sell more Sun servers, which it will do.

I haven't heard too much from
the MSFT boosters here @SI about "stealing" Java away from SUNW
anymore. They're going to have to conceed this one to SUNW.

What have they "stole"? teh technology SUN licensed to them, which granted them the ability to modify the technology as they see fit? Read the license agreement. What are they conceding, anyway?

It seems like Mr. McNealy is a pretty savvy businessman.

HA HA HA HA!! Good one! Heeee heeee.

I don't see any indication that Microsoft is getting nervous. They've got the size, vision, creativity, products, intelligence, and the marketing machine that have made them what they are. Not an evil empire, but a software development company. Because of their size they've got a lot to protect. The lawsuits will prove fruitless as the federal government realizes that Microsoft is simply redefining what an OS is and Sun realizes that they can't have their cake and eat it too. Microsoft is healthy competition for Sun and nothing more.

You might want to actually read the contract that was signed
between Microsoft and Sun. If you read it you'll find that
Microsoft is require only to ship and support the class libraries
that were part of the original JDK 1.02. THe recent additions
that Sun has added onto the Java platform are term supplemental
class libraries and Microsoft is not require to ship them.
In any case you would be hard press to show how Microsoft has
violated any of the terms of the contract where as it appears
quite clear that Sun has violated the terms of the contract that
it signed with Microsoft.

Here is the link to the Java contract signed between Sun and Microsoft: microsoft.com

It is pretty interesting reading and not that hard to understand.
