.....you really are confused.....conservatism is NOT an Ideology......it's a combination of life experience, simple common sense, a willingness to critically evaluate what works, has worked in the past , and is likely to work in the future................you seem to imply Cruz is an idealogue...........give me several examples. .Also, you still haven't named your candidates with your proper "experience"

I would choose Romney over Cruz (I know, he's not running). You would say Romney has no principled stand, while Cruz does. I don't believe Romney is an ideologue. And frankly, were it not for the political necessity of getting elected, I would choose Newt Gingrich over either of them. You may say, "Gingrich is an ideologue" but I would argue that he is thoughtful and is not bound by his 20 year old political commitments.

Conservatism, imo, is preferable to liberalism. But I really see both of those ideologies as inferior to someone who can simply think about a problem and make good choices among the available alternatives.

I have stated several times I have no real problem with Cruz's ideology. At least that I know of. My problem with Cruz is he lacks experience. It could well be that five years from now I would see him as an excellent candidate. And as I've said, if he were the nominee I'd surely support him against any of the opponents I think are likely.
