"highly valued and important : deserving great respect" And I mean that when referring to all sentient life--and to a lesser extent to all life--because sentience in some form or another might be ubiquitous... I will be happy when people no longer need to abort but can prevent pregnancies across the board. Many women suffer when they abort their fertilized egg which could become a child with a little luck.
