Definition of whiteness constantly changing. That is an incredible piece I encourage spending more time reading for all as it is an eye opener. I certainly never felt like privileged or even mainstream white anglo saxon as a kid trying to assimilate. We were the last ones in from the long European immigrant wave lasting till about 1960 my dad had been here only a few years when i was born. By the time I caught up to the mainstream I got my first real job down in Miami and all of the sudden I am feeling like a minority yet again as an Americano gringo in a spanish speaking world. The outsider yet again.. So I had seen a lot by the time I was 22. Certainly nothing like Obama went through but my prism is quite different than most people considered 'white' today. Some of liberalism I do not like but my hate for the far right has been off the charts for a very long time now. Call me the classic independent thinker I guess always asking questions...lol
