Of course you are right, and one wonders if Greenspan realizes that he may be setting up a replay of the 1920s. It loooks to me as if the Fed may be trying to anticipate a market collapse and if they are not careful they will just make it much worse than it would have been. Instead of jawboning publicly a year ago Greenspan should have raised margin rates to 75% from 50%/ That would have proved he meant busness. Now, everything is being allowed to happen with little control.
