Those carpe diem cavalier poets were bad boys- I think they used carpe diem the same way. You won't sleep with me? Carpe diem wench (check out "To the Virgins to Make Much of Time" and "To his Coy Mistress" and "Come My Celia"- which always makes me think of Come Mycelia- which is a fungal poem yet to be written- maybe I'll write it)

Just wanted to let you know my students are very interested in starting a Free the Slaves chapter- and we've got the paperwork in motion (and already have a president for the chapter). Thank you for the inspiration. It didn't hurt that we were reading excerpts from Frederick Douglas today in class- it made a nice segue to the idea of starting a chapter. My students asked to read the article you posted here- so I sent them a link as soon as I got home.
