"As is so often the case with science communication, the assumption seems to be that public understanding of science—sprinkled with a hearty dose of wonder and awe—will produce respect for scientific authority, support for science funding, and a new generation of would-be scientists. If only Americans loved science a little more, the thinking goes, we could end our squabbling about climate change, clean energy, evolution, and funding NASA and the National Science Foundation. These are high hopes to pin on a television show, even one as glorious as Cosmos."

Speaking of Science. I was listening to radio the other day and the person interviewed was the last person to walk on the moon--40 years ago (Eugene Cernan). This is sad. FORTY YEARS???

But even worse is the fact that most of the Space Station belongs to America, but you have to ride a Russian horse to access it.
This is absolutely dumb. Indeed, it is tragic. Now you are hostages to that little born again Christian with his Hitlerian aspirations. Every American ought to write and call his congressman or woman and demand that your country get back on track in space. What in the Hell good is it to have this magnificent Space Station if you need to hitchhike to get there? You need to hope that the little miscreant will give you a ride and that you (and the rest of the world) can afford the price?

Somebody better call for a new deck. This one is stacked, brother...

Creeps like Tyson picking fights with Christianity do legitimate science a serious disservice.
