I made the comment when BGO was $7 or so and I thought it was a bit outrageous myself. Martinis! You know what they can do to a girl. I wonder if Clive can say re-structuring with a straight face? The Company would be smart to start the acquisition of its subsidiaries while the market is still giving BGO shares a premium. There has yet to be a company that has bought equity positions vs. property interests that has worked. Teck may be an exception and the reason for that is they don't own stock in the target company before they do the placement. It looks like what BGO did for its so-called subsidiaries is to provide credibilty and liquidity to the cheap stock owners who just happened to be themselves. Duh? The Placer share purchase is a token. The butter for them, if it works, is the 51% which they may have got very cheap. I'm a believer that the US$ is going to have a sharp downward correction sometime in '98 and gold will respond accordingly. If so AZS will be the better relative buy if it survives the vacuum.
