Somebody please tell me why, when Dems lost twice while Obama was carrying the district, we should expect them to carry it now, when he's not the main attraction. Redistricting didn't change it that much.

I'm a bit further back in the interpretive pack than you are. It's not yet clear just what the national implications of the Florida vote are, if any. It's also clear there is much to worry about in November but I don't have a clear read of the various states.

Should the Reps gain control of the Senate, I agree with you that nominations, particularly SC nominations will go nowhere. I expect to see talk of impeachment but no serious action on it. Boehner knows better from the 90s. And, since almost all legislative measures these days are more political than substantive, I suspect you are right.

Excellent post.

<<I see it as a welcome wake up call. I've seen a lot saying that the (D)'s won't lose the Senate in Nov. and that they might even re-take the House. Time to smell the coffee and get to work. The ground truth is, the (R)'s are likely to control BOTH houses of congress after the election.

They may try to impeach Obama. They may succeed. They may decide not to, considering president Biden. No Obama nominee will progress. Things will be much worse than they currently are. They will craft legislation, that looks good at a glance, but contains poison pills, that will make Obama look bad to Americans as he vetos it, building to the 2016 presidential election.
