Kumar, I don't know if this is good news for MSFt or bad news. As the company said, it does not affect Windows 98 shipping with IE 4.0.
Also, MSFT agreements with hardware manufacturers expires in February 1998 so all MSFT lost was two months of shipping IE with Windows 95.

We will have to see tommorrow what impact it has on the stock.
Either it is going back to $145 to fill the gaps left over the last three days or it is going to tank big time. I hope for the former as I am long MSFt and would like to short it again at $145 as I did the last time around.

V.K

<<Vinod: I understand that Judge in MSFT case is ruling unfavorably towards MSFT. Will it be good or bad for ORCL. If it is good for NSCP Will it also be good for ORCL.?>>

That's an excellent question. It should have a good long-term effect on ORCL, but it's probably short-term meaningless. MSFT competes with ORCL in ORCL's market, but it's not a monopolistic threat. Now, if NT 5.0 were going to be shipped with a built-in SQL server, that would have been another story, because the analogy would be obvious.

It's long-term good for ORCL because it makes it less likely that MSFT will attempt a stunt like building database products into the OS.
