A lot of the problems with the dems are forced on them by the pubs. If the dems had the power the pubs did they would straighten things out quickly. To begin with we would have single payer health care for all. And defense would be cut in half. You don't seem to know this. Citizens United would be overturned Immediately, public financing of campaigns, minimum wages increased, unionization reestablished, free pre school, and on and on. The pubs prevent all of this stuff from happening. You need to focus on the brain dead pubs, not the dems.

You may not require the same thing of a party the rest of us do. I think most people here look at their candidates and assess them- we just want different things, or have different priorities. On SI it's far too easy to discard honest disagreement, and to say the other party is not "coldly" looking at.... (insert personal hobby horse here). I don't think the dem party is perfect, and I know Wharf doesn't, and John doesn't and Koan doesn't- but we like what they do in other respects better than we like the pubs. With pubs we got invasions of civil liberties AND a host of other crap we didn't want. Now what we think is important may not be important to you- maybe you like all the social conservatism, but I hate it. So please, don't go painting people here with a broad brush- and thinking you're being brutally honest- because you're just making straw people out of the folks here. I guess you can do that if you want to, but I don't see the point.
