"Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence"

<<You are wrong. When something OUGHT to be there then the absence of that something needs to be accounted for.>>

No, as usual, you are wrong. You are imposing unrealistic demands on archaeology." (gregoree)

You're not thinking. I wasn't imposing any demands on archeology. It is not always an ought that ( say) the remains of an imaginary city turns up. But I was speaking of situations such as when a story claims that the entire world turned up to witness incredible events that would have realistically been recorded by thousands and thousands of people and would have had effects that were recorded throughout the world...and we find that historians did not know about it even though they lived in the vicinity and would certainly have been witness to it. Leaving aside the entire mythology of "Jesus" which was written about by people decades later to invent a religious system--we can look (for instance) at this silliness!

2 "When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. 2 Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven (nice touch!) and filled the whole house where they were sitting. 3 They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire (think about that!) that separated and came to rest on each of them. 4 All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues[ a] as the Spirit enabled them.

5 Now there were staying in Jerusalem God-fearing Jews from every nation under heaven. (WOW!!) 6 When they heard this sound, a crowd came together in bewilderment, because each one heard their own language being spoken. 7 Utterly amazed, they asked: "Aren’t all these who are speaking Galileans? 8 Then how is it that each of us hears them in our native language? 9 Parthians, Medes and Elamites; residents of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia,[ b] 10 Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya near Cyrene; visitors from Rome 11 (both Jews and converts to Judaism); Cretans and Arabs—we hear them declaring the wonders of God in our own tongues!" 12 Amazed and perplexed, they asked one another, "What does this mean?"

AND THEY ALL RETURNED TO THEIR OWN LANDS AND SAID NOTHING!! Just as nobody ever talked about all the Saints who were resurrected and shuffled into Jerusalem to wine and dine! Nobody seems to have noticed until ONE fiction writer decades later!

Now use your head! If people were visiting your town from all over the United States and Canada and one of your grave yards came alive and a bunch of zombies lumbered into town to discuss the news with their friends and relatives...do you not think it might cause several million stories to be written over the next decade that would be pored over by historians for centuries to come? How about if everybody in your town were witness to people talking languages they had no way of knowing? Do you think the fact that everyone in the world ignored that event might be taken as just a tad suspicious?? "Absence of evidence?" Yes...sometimes it matters for sensible people! I would welcome you to show that you are sensible and explain why we should accept your "scripture" and place YOU on a pedestal??
