RE: "a potential recession that is not caused by the Fed
raising rates"

I have long believed and espoused the principal of Maximus Fuximus.
Increases in interest rates will only have real effects when they
are unexpected, such as the Saturday massacre leading to the 81/82
recession. It now appears that the unexpected constriction of
money growth through the evaporation of real wealth in the equity
markets of the Far East may have real growth ramifications.
Definitely a slowdown, but the verdict on a US recession is
still out.
