At that time, those same analysts were projecting $90 to $100 for Intel which leaves them about 25% shy of their target price versus missing the AMD target by a whopping 75%. Despite the deep mistrust of Jerry Sanders, people are actually starting to take his public announcement that there won't be any profits seriously. Intel is branching into the fast growing digital television market which is going to require the kind of power that only they can deliver in quantity and at reasonable cost. Intel realized early on that audio, video and 3D animation would be essential features of any modern communications tool and all of it will come together in 1998. Whether or not wanabees like AMD can survive as a legacy supplier of has-been product remains to be seen.

<not addressed to me>

<I guess you now want to claim credit for forseeing AMD's reversal of yield on .35 even though many professional analysts did not do so .>

Brian, there is no evidence that yields have turned around, only wishfull thinking on a few AMD zelot's part.

<It is precisely the attitude that you display i.e. destroy the competition , that is at the root of Intel's earnings problems .>

Brian, there is no evidence that Intel has earnings problems. Only wishfull thinking on a few AMD zelot's part. AMD & Cyrix post nothing but red ink, Intel makes $Billions and you say Intel has earnings problems. Only an AMD zelot could follow that reasoning.
