The delays for air travel either taking off from Hong Kong and / or landing in Beijing are frequent enough that on average it would be easily faster to travel the 2,000 km / 1,200 miles by high-speed rail, and until the details are determined re Malaysian Air MH370, safer.

Additional advantages of the rail would be internet connection, food on menu, and perhaps that pretty girl looking for a sense of humor. Who knows, we must remain optimistic.

Re flight MH370, not good and totally different.

I occasionally go overboard when packing for a flight, just in case the plane suffers a mishap, so that as my life flashes before my eyes I have one less regret. I do not want the last thoughts to be troubled by, "gee, I should have packed my favorite foods"
