Want some cheese with that whine? The people in the media might be more liberal than the general population. But that doesn't mean that influences what gets into the news. That is more of a wingnut thing.

Did you watch the polls? There was a tight correlation between Romney's standing and what he was saying at any given time. When he would pitch to the batshit crazy base, his numbers went down. When he talked like a rational person, his numbers went up.

Until the Republicans come up with a platform that is grounded in reality and is palatable to the majority of Americans

Romney was y'alls best hope because he wanted to be president just because. So he had no ideology riding on it. He could believable take the stance his audience of the moment wanted to see, shifting seamlessly back and forth depending on the needs of the moment. Often within the same speech.
