I thought True Detective did manage to put a more original twist on the detective-partner genre. We enjoyed it overall, but agree the last episode was dragged out, pushing the 'BOO SCARED YOU BUTTON" a few too many times. Police are often adversely affected by the trauma and misfortune they witness. No shortage of that here.
It will be interesting to see the cast and plot on next year's series.
