Earlier this month the House Budget Committee, under Mr. Ryan’s direction, released a 205-page report on the alleged failure of the War on Poverty. What does the report have to say about the impact of falling real wages? It never mentions the subject at all.

Such brilliant folks, they really zero in on the problems.

I was in college in the early 70s. I worked in the University dining hall and made $2.71/hr in 1970. I recently ran that through the BLS inflation calculator, which anyone can find here:
bls.gov

That hourly wage has the purchasing power of 16.34 today.
