Paul Re "Intel seems to openly support SUN's JAVA initiative and has written"

IMHO I think any inroads by Java are positive for Intel

Paul:

I greatly appreciate your response. Seems like Sun is getting some help from IBM and large numbers of Java developers. Like you, I believe McNeely has been nimble. I wonder how successful he will be in redefining Sun as is necessary as the multi-processor market changes.

On days like today I enjoy looking ahead rather than watching the ticker. By the way, you mentioned Intel University. Were you ever in on any "envision the future" sessions where you were encouraged to imagine and project what might become reality in 5 years, or 10 or 20? I wonder how Intel is able to work on Silicon Valley time, taking care of the immediate challenges and still remain visionary. Their alliances with others must be an important part of this, but I'd be interested in anything you know of their internal mindset.

Thanks again, dmf
