>> The Dems had a bunch of conservative dems like Max Baucus and Lieberman who would never vote for single payer and Obama needed 60 votes in the senate. We only had 55 seats, so how could he get the dem single payer program through?

>> So tell us all how that would have worked when the pubs were voting 100% against him??

>> Show us all how I am mistaken!

It isn't a mistake, it is dumb. You are saying yourself that Democrats refused to vote for it (the term Democrats used is "it is a non-starter"). Of course Republicans aren't going to support a single payer program. But it is disingenuous to try to lay blame for the current mess on Republicans.

The Democrats excluded the Republicans from the process entirely and intentionally because they didn't want Republican involvement (you may remember Obama's arrogant comment, "The election is over, I won.") So, the argument that the Republicans are somehow at fault for what the legislation is or isn't is pretty absurd.

The reality is the Dems used an absolutely corrupt process to get what they got, and there are still significant constitutional challenges to be faced by the law as it is. A single payer program could not have been enacted -- even most Democrats don't want it.

So, it is a lie to blame it on Republicans when even Democrats can't muster the votes for single payer. If even liberal democrats won't vote for it why do you think Republicans would? Crucial votes like Landrieu, Pryor and other southern Democrats would not have considered Single Payer at all. More importantly, the American People would not have tolerated it. He'll, Obama had to become liar of the year just to get what they got.
