Hi John, You mention the Federal Reserve..and this seems to be a favorite whipping boy of many politicians. It was created on December 23, 1913, with the enactment of the Federal Reserve Act, largely in response to a series of financial panics, particularly a severe panic in 1907.[2][3][4][5][6][7] Over time, the roles and responsibilities of the Federal Reserve System have expanded and its structure has evolved.[3][8] Events such as the Great Depression were major factors leading to changes in the system.[9] From their charter the Federal Reserve's first duty is the maintain a stable currency. From the end of the Civil War till 1910...there were a number currency panics (manipulations?) that whipsawed all Americans between prosperity and poverty. And that's why The Federal Reserve System exists. Out of control federal reserve continuing to micromanage the economy and create asset bubbles and Big federal deficits The second duty of the Federal Reserve is protect the currency with the objective of maximizing employment. This does mean some micromanaging of the economy, but how else would you have it? Politicians would have you believe that President Obama, and the Secretary of the Treasury, along the the Fed Chairman stay up late on Saturday night writing checks that the American Taxpayer will have to cover. Nice story line.......but just more right wing fiction.

good lord... what kind of fantasy world do you live in? the deficit has been declining and is at multi-year lows under Obama to blame Obama for the partisanship due to the fact he doesn't pal around with members of Congress is incredibly ridiculous to blame Obama for low tax rates on the wealthy, also ridiculous as if Obama can single-handedly snap his fingers and change things at will, while the Congress and virtually every republicon/teabagger blocks anything and everything he tries to do it's also obviously Obama's fault for Miley Cyrus

John, I want you to list very carefully the actions that Obama continued from Bush. The bloated quite costly MIC Low tax rates and policies that favor the rich.. Out of control federal reserve continuing to micromanage the economy and create asset bubbles Big federal deficits Guintanamo Bay remaining open Continued NSA illegal intrusion into our privacy hyperpartisan divided government I can never understand why 1 and 2 were not reversed in a major way by now. Number 3 was needed most of his first term but depression has been off the table for several years now. Because the economy is still not fully recovered. Its never been just about the possibility of a depression. Number 4 was needed we are growing out nicely from the big hole. The latest annual deficit is the smallest since 2008 and OMB predicts the deficits will continue to decline thru 2015. After that, further steps will be needed to decrease them further. 5-6 are not as big deal to me either way as we have much bigger fish to fry. Nonetheless, I will answer both. GB still open? Why? Its because of the GOP. Obama has moved as many prisoners to other countries as possible. With the remaining prisoners, he wanted to close GB and move them to a fed penitentiary. GOP balked/refused to pass the legislation to make it possible. The NSA? LOL. Its been around since WW II. Americans know about it. They complain but they don't try to stop it. Why? It satisfies their sense of paranoia. A president is responsible for the security of the nation. 9/11 made that job more difficult. No president will shut down the NSA if Americans are not objecting strenuously. I think you know that simple truth. Number 7 really concerns me it keeps getting worse. It takes two to tango and Obama never made the effort to get to personally know members in Congress even most in his own party. Maybe all the old farts of both parties need so far out of touch should get the boot and give more younger boomers and gen X a chance now.. The bickering between Pelosi/.Reid vs McConnel/Boehner started well before Obama became president. Oh give me a fucking break. First of all, most of the GOP is racist. They don't like this country having a black president. And that his been true from the get go. My God, a douchebag R yelled out "You lie!" at Obama during Obama's first SOTU. I have never seen that happen before.The amount of racist material coming from the R wing of elected officials during the past 6 years has been astounding. Secondly, the country has become more polarized since 2000. Bush went into a war in Iraq to satisfy the TX oil oligarchs......his best friends. The Rs enabled him. Very few Rs objected to anything Bush did. And that asshole managed to run up the debt, put us into two wars and gave us the worst recession since WW II. Why would any Dem bust their hump developing a relationship with these assholes. If anything it should be the Rs doing the bridging work. But do you see them being reasonable........trying to mend relationships that devolved under Bush? If you do, show me..........because I don't see it. For me, the Rs have gotten worse.......more abrasive, angry and aggressive; not better. And they have shown Obama virtually no respect. Its appalling. And yet you're pissed because you think Obama should be working harder at getting along with these racist hypocrites. I don't get it. Can you explain to me why you feel that way?
