Independent means ashamed to admit you are a liberal. So if you wear that label, people know what it means.

So far I have yet to see any issue on which you are right of center. You may be close to center on a few issues, but that is about it. It has been correctly reported that most liberals vastly misunderstand where the center is. Conservatives have a much better understanding because the leftist media is so far left that they get frustrated with every media spin.

The same is true of libertarians. The leftist media are authoritarians as well. They don't like the Tea Party because the concept of freedom is totally foreign to the leftist/statist media.

Rand Paul is an extremist libertarian. Libertarian / Authoritarian (statist) is the perpendicular to Liberal / Conservative. I am libertarian in many ways. I understand that weakness invites aggression. So in projection of strength I break ranks with extremist libertarians.

It is true that many statists agree with libertarians in the need to eliminate the military. The motivation for is is vastly different. Statists use the guns versus butter argument to reach that conclusion. Libertarians use the freedom argument to reach their conclusion.

Leftists misunderstand libertarian concepts and misrepresent them as conservative. People who lack the motivation to understand can make what appear to be uninformed comments. My conversations with you indicate that you may be somewhere near the center on the authoritarian/libertarian continuum.
