Steve,
I'll defer to options experts, you might want to pose
your question on the Options Strategies thread,(There are
several option related threads, I think).

Good Luck and let us know what you decide to do.

Steve, Although I haven't experienced selling puts, I would say it's a good idea since you will get the 7 1/2 premium that will protect the value of your stock up to the low 20s. I believe Analysts and Short-term Traders are not done yet, if the stock could slide down to 26 1/4 (a 50% decline from the High) why not slide to 20 (a 63% decline that matches the one that happened last year)...

Steve,

Sorry if I'm butting in.

I've thought of the same, and then possible using the proceeds to buy leaps.

One of the things that stops me is that selling the long term Puts does not maximize the "time value premium" that is sold. I could sell the near term put several times and get more premium I believe.

Of course, you would have to sell at a price you don't think you will get put at, or else roll it forward.

Please consider and let me know what you think. If I am wrong, I am the first that wants to know!

good luck,

Lee
