Dude, in that revolution, the FSM was the shot heard round the world.>>

I hate to disagree with you rat, but you have it wrong. It was much much larger than the FSM. By orders of magnitude. It was like the Age of enlightenment and the Industrial revolution, and the implementation of democracy.

The counter culture movement had been growing long before the 60's. Darwin, Mark Twain, Nietzsche, Gertrude Stein,The Beatniks, Eric Nord, Jack Kerouac and North Beach, and Greenwich village, The Beatles, and little artist colonies around the world were the first seeds planted who grew up to be the Hippies.

All of the above had existential elements. The Hippies/counter culture was when those small artistic/existential movements around the world came together and exploded into a cultural revolution when it reached critical mass.

The 60's was when the power of thought, finally won over myth and script for the first time in history and why I say it was a revolution overturning 10,000 years of primitive thinking.

The 60's was the birth of thinking. And it was a revolution against primitive cultures, norms and mores, around the world.
