He was wrong about his understanding of what makes a person ethical. Trying to explain things to you is impossible. I'll tell you how it is. You find a Muslim as radical about Islam as you are about Christianity and then try and convince them that they should become a Christian. Good luck. People who are as indoctrinated as deeply as you are cannot learn new things, or see where they are wrong. You are stuck spending your life defending your position. So you can never learn. You have little chance of ever understanding reality, anymore than that radical Muslim does; and that makes me feel sorry for you and our society as both involve primitive simplistic beliefs. A society does better as it moves away form religion and toward a democracy of modern thought e.g. not bashing gays.
