The professor attacked a female pro-lifer, 16-year-old Thrin Short, and snatched the pro-life sign from Short’s hands. Miller-Young then carried the sign off through the campus, flanked by her radical feminist students. Thrin Short, 16 Police officers later found the remains of the sign, which had been destroyed. Thrin Short is a member of the pro-life Survivors of the Abortion Holocaust. Mireille Miller-Young ’s UCSB faculty webpage says she has a Ph.D. in American History and History of the African Dispora from New York University, and is an associate professor of Feminist Studies at UCS B. She lists as among her “areas of study” such profound intellectual subjects as “Pornography; Sex Work; Black Film, Popular Culture and Art; Feminist & Queer Theory; African American & African Diaspora.” Normally, universities require at least one PUBLISHED book for promotion from assistant professor to associate professor. How do I know that? Because I’m a professor who went through the ranks and is thoroughly familiar with university promotion criteria. But Miller-Young’s research and publication accomplishment consists of an as-yet unpublished though “forthcoming” manuscript, A Taste for Brown Sugar: Black Women, Sex Work and Pornography. Another case of, in the parlance of political correctness, “affirmative action.” UPDATE (March 17, 2014): We have more details of Miller-Young’s attack. According to Joan Short, the 21-year-old older sister of Thrin, Miller-Young incited her students against the pro-lifers , leading the crowd in a chant of “Tear down the sign! Tear down the sign!” before grabbing one of the banners and walking with it across campus. Joan and Thrin followed Miller-Young and two of her students into nearby South Hall. As Miller-Young and the students boarded an elevator, Thrin tried to block the door with her hand and foot. Miller-Young pushed her back, then exited the elevator and tried to yank Thrin away from the door while the students attempted to take her smartphone. “As Thrin tried to get away, the professor’s fingernails left bloody scratches on her arms ,” Joan claimed. The pro-life group, Survivors, is now pursuing criminal charges against Miller-Young. Read more here . Here’s the video taken by the Short sisters:youtube.com VIDEO
