Hoover suffered the delusions that infect most all Democrats and too many Republican today. He didn't understand the proper role of a president; to maintain the jersey barriers that allow people to do as best they can on their own. Unknown at the time, a contraction by the Fed sparked serious woes. Hoover started the stupid interventions that FDR then made exponentially worse.

Harding, despite some pretty dodgy friends, was a good pres, Coolidge excellent. Reagan knew which direction to head, but the painful elimination of accumulated sludge is a multi-decade project and his good efforts were abandoned by his sorry successors.

The ethos that made America great is largely gone, unknown to yourself and many, many others. It has been replaced by the drivel peddled by the bedwetters that took over our educational system, then our press. Without a revival in faith in liberty FROM government America will continue its drift toward a situation as in Venezuela, where many would really, really, like access to toilet paper.
