I expect the final two years of this Presidency to be nothing but a series of gridlocks with a lot of vetos from Obama. Today, Obama has the lowest number of vetos since Ike. I am sure that by the time he leaves office, he will not hold that title.

I agree that it takes two to tango. I also agree that he could have spent more time with the Congress folks socializing instead of spending more time with his daughters. After all Chelsea grew up to be a normal kid even though the relationship between Hillary and Bill were not that good during her formative years.

Having said that, we all are to blame in DC. There is intense partisanship on both sides of the aisle. But there has never been such intense hatred for a US President by members of Congress, some of which so emboldened by their racial hatred that they dare to interrupt his SOTU speech.

I think the best solution would be if the nation spoke together in one voice in November 2014 in a "anti incumbency" vote, lock, stock and barrel. You are an incumbent, you are out, no matter which party.

He is the only one who can get it started.

He is the president. He is the only one who can get it started.

I believe he has tried on a number of occasions. I think what you're looking for is coddling and I don't think a president should have to coddle other adults The truth is the House has a very weak Speaker. It took him over 5 years to finally put his foot down. There are members of the GOP who are radicalized ideologues. I think its virtually impossible to have a sensible conversation with ideologues.

The partisan/ideologue divide is big and getting bigger. Secession billboards are going up in the South. Organizations like AARP which are perceived as liberal are under constant attack by wingers. Inevitably, this whole crisis will come to a head and we will survive as a nation or break apart. And no single man or president will be able to stop the inevitable or prevent the dissolution if that is what results.

If you have time watch this video re what's happening in Congress when it comes to providing aid to Ukraine. The pertinent part starts 12 min into the video:

msnbc.com

Even as Rs agree that the US must help the Ukraine, they play games and obstruct when a bill to provide such aid is brought up. This is typical for the past 6 years........and yet, you want Obama to make nice nice with these jerks. I don't get it.

John, this is shocking. It just goes to show how some bastards in our society will go all the way with such racist comments, even if it is the US President. These assholes should not be shown any mercy. If I recall right, you have some mixed race blood in you. If so, I wonder what your reaction is when someone thinks of comparing Obama with a ape.
==============================

Rumsfeld: ‘Ape’ Better Than Obama

Speaking on Fox News, former Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld declared Monday night that a “trained ape” could do better on foreign relations than President Obama. While speaking about the administration’s actions in Afghanistan on On the Record with Greta van Susteren, Rumsfeld declared: “We have status of forces agreements probably with 100, 125 countries in the world. This administration, the White House and the State Department, have failed to get a status of forces agreement. A trained ape could get a status of forces agreement. It does not take a genius.” Rumsfeld also touted the Bush administration’s record on the issue, saying it had a “first-rate” relationship with Afghan President Hamid Karzai, but that it went “downhill like a toboggan” under President Obama.
