John

<< I don't think Dr. John wants a deal, he wants his Amati. He created it
so I doubt he would be happy to see it stolen (personal opinion). Dr. John has
more shares that anyone, almost 10% -- I don't think he will hand them over
easily. >>

Let AMTX go in peace. The acquisition was with the approval of all board members.

[Buyout]

Mark Twain, "The report of my death was an exaggeration."

Whether Cioffi likes the terms may have little to do with whether he tendered. You'd have to phone the company and get a definite answer as I'm speculating based on being told the board had to.

Dr. Cioffi has a long and amicable history with TI and the hold-up with his contract could have more to do with Stanford than with not liking the buyout.

Lots to consider.

Hey, I don't like losing Amati, either, but with the market the way it is and the telcos delaying the way they have, I'm certainly glad not to be riding the rollercoast down one more time. Life's too short.

Don't worry. The fat lady may be warming up, but she hasn't sung yet.

Pat

Unbelieveable to me that so many write like this matter (Amati) is dead.

John,

It was a very hard decision, but I just placed a limit order to sell at 19 7/8. I'm using some of the proceeds to take a larger position in Westell. The matter of Amati may not be dead, but Westell is quickly becoming a fish out of water, unable to breath, the life keeps slipping away. In order to take advantage of the bottom where ever it
may lie, I needed the cash. I hope to make up the Amati Fire Sale price with Westell eventually moving back up to the $20. range.

Though with the DSL block party happening in Feb. 98, perhaps we will see a replay of 1996 rise in price. From $10 in Jan 96 to a split around $85. in June was a great ride if you were on the train.
Though I'm not counting on that happening again, you never know in this crazy unpredictable DSL Industry.

Then there is the FCC LMDS Auction Feb 18th. Who knows I just might have a happy birthday in February next year, I'll be 11 1/2.

<<Re: Coiffi not tendering>>

Getting kind of close to the cut off and I have not decided what to do... what is everyone else doing? Take the offer, or hold on?
