Actually that's a metaphysical assumption that is required to do physics in the first place.

In principal yes, but you need a continuous chain of evidence. There is no continuous chain. All you are doing is filling in the gaps with wild conjecture

Same as the past. All in all, you don't know either with any kind of scientific certainty.
